Prof. Ahmed Asalia
Prof. Asalia is the Deputy Head of the Department of General Surgery and Head of the Department of Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery. He graduated the Hebrew University and Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem with honors. Prof Asalia majored in general surgery and vascular surgery at Rambam Hospital and underwent clinical internship in laparoscopic surgery and obesity surgery at Mount Sinai and Cornell, famous medical centers in New York, USA.
Prof. Asalia is a faculty member of the Technion's Faculty of Medicine and is a Clinical Associate Professor. He is also a member of the editorial board of two international surgery magazines, is an editor for several surgical magazines in the field of laparoscopy and bariatric surgery, and is a co-founder of an international laparoscopic organization. Prof. Asalia is one of the founders of the Israeli Bariatric Surgery Department and serves as Chairman of the Israeli Society of Endoscopic Surgery. He is also an active member of the Israeli, American and European Surgeons and Arthroscopes Association as well as the International Association for Obesity Surgery.
His clinical and research activities include general and laparoscopic surgery of the digestive system, endocrine glands, solid organs, abdominal wall hernia, hand hyperhidrosis and obesity surgery.
Prof. Asalia published two medical books in his field of expertise printed by international publishing houses. He is the author of over a hundred scientific publications including chapters in professional books.
